Welcome to Water in Context!
Water in Context explores water in all of its forms (ice, snow, rain, soil moisture, groundwater, surface water, evaporation, transpiration, etc.), particularly in the context of drylands (a.k.a arid lands or deserts). Each dry region has its own set of context (culture, politics, development patterns, microclimate, etc.). In addition, drylands as a whole have certain patterns, i.e. context (alkaline soils, evaporation higher than precipitation, desertification, etc.) that suggest different development and design approaches than regions with more moisture ("wet climates"). These sets of dynamics and patterns create the context for present and future design of infrastructure development, stormwater management, the relocalization of food, and more.
